How to Apply

How to Apply to Trinity Law School

Prospective students interested in applying to Trinity Law School are encouraged to complete the following steps:

Applications

The first step in applying is to fill out the Application for Admission. This application can be filled out online.  From here the admission department will begin working with you to complete your application file.

LSAT Score

Upon receiving your application, the admission office will order your LSAT score report from the Law School Admission Counsel (LSAC). If you have not yet taken the LSAT, you are still encouraged to apply. Simply indicate on the application when you plan on taking the exam.

Transcripts

An applicant must provide official transcripts from all colleges and/or universities attended. All credits attempted or earned, including Associate’s, Bachelor’s and graduate credit must be shown. The applicant must contact each college or university attended and request official transcripts be sent directly to the Trinity Law School Admissions Office. All transcripts must be sealed with the official certification of the issuing school, and be sent directly from the issuing school to Trinity.  Note that transcripts are also accepted through the LSAC’s Credential Assembly Service (CAS).

Personal Statement

Prospective students are required to submit a personal statement with their law school application. The personal statement is integral to the application process as it offers the Admissions Committee greater insight to further assess potential for success at Trinity Law School. The personal statement should address why you desire to study law, particularly at Trinity Law School and your professional and personal goals for the future, as well as any factors that may have affected your academic success in the past. Please refer to the law school application for complete instructions.

The Admissions Committee recommends that applicants give thoughtful introspection to the personal statement process and respond with specificity. Responses should not exceed three double-spaced typed pages.

Recommendations

Two recommendations are required in support of the application for admission. These recommendations may be from professors, instructors or professional associates who can accurately comment on the candidate’s character and potential for success in legal study. Recommenders can write a letter or use the optional recommendation forms. For the candidate who cannot obtain a faculty recommendation due to lapse of time since undergraduate study, two recommendations from an employer or professional associate, who can comment effectively on the candidate’s character traits and abilities, are acceptable.

Recommendations must be sent directly to Trinity Law School from the recommender. To be acceptable, the recommendation must be delivered to the law school with the recommender’s signature written across the unopened seal of the envelope. Letters of recommendation are also accepted as official through CAS.

Interviews

The Admissions Committee requires each applicant to interview with the Director of Admissions. The Admissions Department will contact the applicant to schedule and interview appointment as their file nears completion. Telephone interviews are acceptable if an applicant lives a considerable distance from the law school.

Accepting an Offer of Admission

Upon acceptance, entering students are required to sign and return the Enrollment Deposit Form and a $100 tuition deposit fee within thirty days of receiving an offer of admission. This enrollment deposit is necessary to reserve a seat in the entering class. The enrollment deposit is applied toward first semester tuition.

Priority Deadlines/Timing of Decisions

Trinity utilizes a priority deadline of May 1 for receipt of applications from candidates interested in entrance in the fall class and December 1 for those considering entrance for the spring semester. Adherence to the priority deadlines are recommended so an accepted candidate can participate in all the benefits of admission, including all financial aid options and new student events. An applicant intending to register for the June LSAT is strongly encouraged to submit a completed application by the priority deadline with the exception of the LSAT results.

Financial Aid and Scholarships

Applicants are encouraged to complete a scholarship application, and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), as scholarships and grants are awarded upon acceptance. Scholarship applications are available through the admissions office.
